Today I'm going to be doing a deep dive on the Bobovr M3 Pro head strap.
Design: A Whole Different Contraption
This thing is completely different to the Meta Quest 3 Elite Strap or the Kiwi Strap. One of the main design differences is instead of needing a strap over the top, they've replaced that with extra paddings — arms and a front forehead pad.
Another unique thing is the way the Meta Quest 3 goes into the strap. With regular straps, you clip them on. With the M3 Pro, you slide the device in. They hold it very tightly. This isn't just different for the sake of being different — it's functional. You get more rotation as to where the lens sits in front of your eye.
The Detachable Battery System
The battery is detachable with magnets — and they're really strong. The benefit is whatever the battery gives you, you get double that because you can take it off, charge it, continue playing, then put it back on. The headset gets lighter during the 2 hours you're playing with just headset power.
Battery Life Results
I got roughly about an hour and 50 minutes of extended battery life, consistent with their claims.
Comfort Features
Lots of padding in the skull cradle with sweat-proof material. They also added grippy pads for people without hair — great thoughtfulness from Bobovr.
The Hinges: A Game Changer
The hinges go not only up but also down. I found that rotating them further down to cup my occipital bone more creates a comfier fit. It's a completely customizable experience for different head shapes.
Price: The Ultimate Win
Out of Meta Quest 3 Elite Strap (~$202 AUD), Kiwi ($100), and Bobovr ($89), the M3 Pro was the cheapest with the best features.
The Cons
Installation was not intuitive — I had to read the instructions. And it doesn't fit inside the Meta Quest 3 Carrying Case, which makes it less practical for travel. However, the comfort enhancement makes me reach for it most times.
Final Verdict
The supreme ruler of comfort, experience, and price. The drawbacks aren't enough to deter anyone, especially at this price point.
